Dear Union City Neighbor,

My name is Harris Mojadedi, I am the son of two hard working immigrant parents who fled persecution and a war zone to make a better life for their children. I have been incredibly fortunate to consider Union City my home. I am a proud product of New Haven Schools, Cabello Elementary, Alvarado Middle School, and James Logan High School (Go Colts!)

Growing up in a beautifully rich and diverse city such as Union City gave me an appreciation and understanding of different people and cultures. From an early age, my parents taught me never to take for granted our democracy, and to be civically involved. While in high school, I ran and was elected our Student Trustee to the New Haven School Board.

After high school, I continued my education at San Jose State University, where I obtained a bachelor's degree in Political Science, and later at Saint Mary’s College where I received a Masters degree. After college, I was eager to return home to Union City. At age 24, I was appointed to our City’s Planning Commission, where I have been able to work in support of affordable housing, and help shape our general plan- the guiding vision for the future of our city. I am running for the City Council to fight for working class families, support small businesses, support public safety, and preserve open space.
