Dear Neighbor,
My name is Harris Mojadedi and I am proudly serving the communities of Union City & South Hayward on the Chabot-Las Positas Community College District. I am the son of two hard working immigrant parents who fled persecution and a war zone to make a better life for their children. I have been incredibly fortunate to consider Union City my home. I am a proud product of New Haven Schools, Cabello Elementary, Alvarado Middle School, and James Logan High School (Go Colts!)
Growing up in a beautifully rich and diverse city such as Union City gave me an appreciation and understanding of different people and cultures. From an early age, my parents taught me never to take for granted our democracy, and to be civically involved. While in high school, I ran and was elected our Student Trustee to the New Haven School Board.
After high school, I continued my education at San Jose State University, where I obtained a bachelor's degree in Political Science, and later at Saint Mary’s College where I received a Masters degree. I have worked in Higher Education for over a decade, working at California State University, East Bay and the University of California, Berkeley. Throughout my career, I have fought for access, equity, and inclusion in higher education and I believe that the California Community College System can solve many of the most pressing issues of our time.
